Forest School

In September 2019, Smarden primary school started the forest school program, Forest school is outdoor, nature-based learning that focuses on the holistic development of the child. alongside the core subjects of the national curriculum. We aim to provide outside learning all year round to our pupils across all age groups . We are lucky enough to have the use of our fantastic woodland setting , and along with qualified Forest School Leaders, children can benefit from this fulfilling experience.
Forest school is an amazing opportunity to give children the time and space to connect with nature and learn new skills,experience new things,initiate their own activities, develop risk awareness, gain an understanding of the relationships humans have with the natural world, learn about the environment and how to protect it and enjoy the woodland and countryside that is all around us. These skills are transferable to different educational subjects and to life in the real world beyond school.
